Frankly, I think it is well past time for something uplifting on this blog, and in support of that notion I would like to introduce you to our colleague and friend, Mark Colthart, and to the Mercy Hospice in Auckland.
Mark lost his mum Di in 2009. In that very testing time, Mark was so impressed by the wonderful care and support given to Di and her family by the Mercy Hospice over the preceeding two years that he decided to give back.
Last year’s Mission for Mercy raised over $8,000 for the Mercy Hospice as Mark completed the Auckland Marathon.
This year, Mark is attempting the 2011 Tawawera 100km Ultramarathon as a marathon is apparently no longer a challenge! I think he’s mad, but Mark also deserves all the support he can get.
Mark’s fundraising site is here: http://www.fundraiseonline.co.nz/MarkC/
