Well, the fateful day has come and gone, and Mark survived the Tarawera 100km Ultra-Marathon, albeit only just..
I made it! Finished in the official time of 13.54.07, for 39th place.
That was, without doubt, the single hardest but most satisfying adventure I have ever had. It was a long, long day, as you could imagine, with many highs and lows along the way, but I never gave up, and I’m proud to say that I kept on running until the end – sometimes very slowly, but running nonetheless.
It looks like the supporters made a sterling effort:
And thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. With your support I managed to exceed my fundraising goal, and have raised $8,420 (including the $20 last year’s winner Kerry Suter gave me at the pre-race briefing – thanks Kerry!), for Mercy Hospice Auckland. I am so very grateful to you all. I would love to thank you all individually, but there are just too many of you.
To anyone and everyone who contributed, thank you all.
