A new “Quick Guide” has been issued by the Office of the Banking Ombudsman, or Banking Ombudsman Scheme as they are now known, with a logo that had me momentarily convinced I’d stumbled onto the website for Bank of Scotland.
This one covers Mortgagee Sales, and is plainly (and properly) aimed at the non-legal fraternity. It is fairly simplistic, and assumes personal ownership and responsibility – no coverage of aspects relating to trustees or corporate ownership, for example. In part it is more a list of bank behaviour that you can’t complain about than an explanation of all aspects of the law.
Notwithstanding their limitations, the entire series of Quick Guides is worth bookmarking as starting point for non lawyers.
Once you have been thoroughly confused by trying to relate the relevant Quick Guide to your own considerably complex affairs, you can talk to your lawyer with at least some background to go on.
